Respond to Loss of Utility Power

This procedure describes the operator response when the CivicGrid 500 system detects loss of utility power while operating in grid-connected mode.

This procedure applies when the CivicGrid 500 system is operating in grid-connected mode and utility service is interrupted. The operator uses the system status interface to verify the transition to islanded operation and monitor system conditions until utility service is restored.

  1. Confirm that utility power has been lost and review the system status display for active utility-loss indications.
  2. Verify that the system has transitioned to islanded operation.
  3. Confirm that critical facility loads remain energized.
  4. Verify that sufficient battery energy storage is available to support critical loads.
  5. Monitor the system status display and review active alarms for conditions requiring operator attention.
  6. Confirm that noncritical loads are being managed according to the configured operating strategy.
  7. Continue monitoring system status until utility service is restored.
  8. Verify that the system has completed its controlled transition back to grid-connected operation.
